My boyfriend always talks about boring, educational stuff. how can i make him a little more excting?

conversational wise?... i feel like i have to take control over the conversation or we'll always be talking about boring stuff. he likes to talk about earthly things and stuff i dont know anything about and i dont care for. we both like to read but the books he like to read are boring and i llike to read fun books like gossip girl and pretty little liars
