Team fortress 2 for pc. glitch?

i just downloaded team fortress 2 because its free but when i launched it and started playing there was a bad Graphics glitch. my weapon wasn't showing up and there was stretched out colors that would have normally been my hand and gun it is really impossible to play. it like stretched our pointy colors
